HOSTED CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH SERVICES AUDITORS FOR INSPECTIONInspections of all tissue banks in California scheduledFebruary 7, 2002 -- Carlsbad, California. California Transplant Services, Inc. a California Non Profit Public Benefit Corporation providing eye and tissue banking services in the Southern California region hosted today an on site inspection by auditors from the California Department of Health Services Audit Section. This audit was conducted pursuant to Assembly Bill No. 2167 (Gallegos) and was conducted by 4 employees of the Department led by Laboratory Examiner Tom Tempske. Information reviewed included California State Licenses, professional accreditation, standard operating procedures, records of donor consent, financial statements, payroll records, and fees charged for all tissue services and tissues. "CTS welcomes the state auditors to review all aspects of this operation, and they are welcome to come back in the future.", said Daryl S. Lirman President and Chief Executive Officer. The survey was conducted in about 6 hours and was followed by a hour and half tour for the physical facility. The inspectors stated that they would be compiling information about each tissue bank in California and will file a report with the state legislature.
